Funeral services for Maria J. Garza of Albert Lea, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service chapel in Albert Lea. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service.

Maria died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at St Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was 82 years of age.

Maria was born June 18, 1930, in Texas, the daughter of Jesse and Adel Sabellez. She attended public school in Texas and was united in marriage to Thomas Garza in Sioux Falls, S.D. She had been a resident of Freeborn County for more than 40 years.

Maria was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and volunteered her time for various organizations. She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, raising flowers, gardening and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas; children, Cornelio (Diane) Vallejo of Albert Lea, Leandro (Connie) Vallejo of Austin, Juanita (Jimmy) Gonzalez of Albert Lea, Sylvia (Brian) Guy of Albert Lea, Dee (Rocky) Applegate of Albert Lea, Ramiro (Gracie) Vallejo of Texas, Santos (Rae jean) Garcia of Lake Mills and Frank (Terri) Vallejo of Minneapolis. There are 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Joe Sabellez of Corpus Christie, Texas, and sisters, Frances Juarez and Eva Hernandez, both of West Texas.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eleanor, Elecia and Lupe; and daughter, Hortencia.
