Harold E. Partridge, 94, Grand Meadow

Harold E. Partridge, 94, of Grand Meadow, Minn., passed away Monday April 29, 2013, at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center.

Harold Partridge was born to Anna Verplank and Harry Partridge in Freeborn, Minn., on Feb. 27, 1919. The family moved from Freeborn to Mora, Minn., where Harold attended school. The Family later moved to New Richland and on to Grand Meadow.

Harold left Grand Meadow to work at A&P Warehouse in Chicago. World War II and Uncle Sam called in the spring of 1942. Harold served in the South Pacific with the Amphibious Engineers, Company C of the 593rd EB-SR, completing 60 landings before returning to Grand Meadow in January 1946. Harold and his father bought Sween Produce selling feed, fertilizer and supplies to the area farming community. Later he became a U.S rural route carrier.

Harold married Marjorie Hebl at the Little Brown Church on June 25, 1946. To this union three children were born: Leonard (Anna) Partridge of Glendale, Ariz., Franklin (Bonnie) Partridge of Bruce, Wis., and daughter Leonatta (Dave) Nelson of Riverton, Wyo.

Harold was very involved in the community, serving various roles with the Grand Meadow Fire Department, Legion Post 140 Commander, multiple terms as city councilman and mayor of Grand Meadow.

Harold found time to travel, golf, trap shoot, hunt, fish and, after retiring, have a morning gathering of cards and coffee with friends.

Surviving Harold are his wife, Marjorie Partridge; children, Leonard (Anna) Partridge of Glendale, Frank (Bonnie) Partridge of Bruce, Leonatta (Dave) Riverton; grandchildren, Jerimiah (Jennifer) Partridge, Chicago, Carmen (Ryan) Empey, Milwaukee, Wis., Tyler (Diana) Partridge, Kuwait City, Kuwait, Molly Partridge, Phoenix, Ariz., Lindsey Partridge, Portland, Maine, Alex Partridge, Phoenix; great-grandchildren, Ella and Olivia Partridge, Chicago.

Preceding Harold are his parents, sister Marian and brothers Vern and Gordon.

A funeral service will be celebrated May 3 at 2 p.m. in the United Church of Grand Meadow with the Rev. Karan Ashton officiating. Visitation will be May 2, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hindt Funeral Home, Grand Meadow. Condolences may be left at www.hindtfuneralhome.com
