Elmer Bergan, 90, born Dec. 5, 1922, of Wabasha, Minn., passed away the evening of April 29, 2013, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.
Elmer was born in Cary, N.D. He was a veteran of World War II and was employed at George A. Hormel’s in Austin, Minn., for 40 years. He has been retired for 31 years and enjoyed going fishing.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Jean Bergan; two sons, James Bergan wife Linda and Dennis Bergan wife Anne; three stepchildren, John Ottman, David Emmons wife Shawna and Judy Emmons; one brother, Roger Bergan; two sisters Merna Grecian and JoAnn Berning; four grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Bergan; two grandchildren, Troy Bergan and Joshua Ottman; one brother, Merlin Bergan; and one sister, Lois Midthus.
Elmer donated his body to Mayo Clinic. He will be missed by all. A celebration of life will be held for Elmer on Saturday, May 11, 2013, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Wabasha American Legion.
