Another Austin medical center administrator will advance his career at a new hospital.

Steve Underdahl, former vice president of operations at Mayo Clinic Health System — Albert Lea and Austin, has been named the new president and CEO of Northfield Hospital & Clinics, according to a Northfield news release. He formally accepted the board of directors’ offer earlier this month, and will begin his new job June 11.

The Austin and Albert Lea medical center hasn’t yet hired a new vice president of operations.

Adam Rees resigned as the Austin and Albert Lea hospital’s chief administrative officer earlier this year to become president of Essentia Health’s central region, which is based in Brainerd, Minn. Stephen Waldhoff replaced Rees as CAO in Albert Lea and Austin.

Underdahl also served as hospital administrator for the Albert Lea hospital from 1999 to 2012. He has a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Bethel College. His background includes work in the area of chemical dependency treatment.
