Rose sale pick-up starts Tuesday

A reminder that starting this Tuesday the annual Rose Sale pick-up and deliver will begin and run through Thursday.

The time is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you missed your chance to order, we have ordered extra roses.

Taste of Mower County

The third annual Taste of Mower County is in the history books.

Over 250 people attended the event and tasted specialties from five chefs and six home chefs from around the community.

The event raised more than $10,000 for programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Mower County.

The winners of this year’s event in the Chef category was Sweet’s Restaurant from LeRoy with their smoked windsor chops, Chicken and wild rice, vegetable beef dumpling and red mushroom soups.

Runner up was Apollo Liquor and Superette with their barbecue ribs.

The winners in the Home Chef Category was Elaine Williamson with her lemon with lemon curd, roasted cashew with mango sauce, and chocolate raspberry with chocolate ganache cheesecakes.

Runner up was Smokin Joe’s Peaches and Puddin, (Joe and Lacey Morse and Stephanie Edwards) with their smoked shredded pulled pork and French peach pie.

We would like to send a big thank you to all of the chefs, sponsors and people and businesses who donated items.

•Monday, April 29: Dave Reedstrom, a Special Needs Planner and a parent of an adult child with Down syndrome, will be holding a free informational seminar that includes the following topics: Guardianships, wills, supplemental needs trusts, power of attorney, letter of intent, avoiding family conflict and reducing professional costs. The seminar will be held at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. at The Arc of Mower County.
