Bruins take series lead with Dixon’s game-winner in OT

MINOT – For the second straight game of the NAHL semifinals, the Austin Bruins and Minot Minotauros had to battle it out in overtime.

This time, the Bruins prevailed when Cody Dixon scored to win the game 3-2 with 12:58 left in the extra session.

The win gives Austin a 2-1 series lead and they can clinch the series with a win Saturday at Minot at 7:35 p.m.

The Bruins dominated the OT session as they didn’t allow a shot on goal in seven minutes.

AJ Reid gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead with a second period goal, but Minot tied it up when Wesley Iverson scored with 27 seconds left in the period.

Nick Lehr stopped 31 shots in the win for Austin.

Austin’s Drew Anderson was ejected from the game for kneeing in the second period.

If there is a game five, it will be held Monday at Riverside Arena at 7:05 p.m.

Bismarck advanced to the NAHL finals when it finished off a 3-0 sweep of Brookings with a 6-0 win in Brookings Friday.
