Austin students selected for Honor Bands

Eight AHS band students recently took part in the Dorian Band Festival at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Laura Siegfreid (flute) was one of 20 students to be named an Honorable Mention in the solo audition competition. Other students taking part included Shannon Stutzman and Kaelyn Matthews (French horn), Jasmin Hultgren (alto sax), Rachel Vos (clarinet), Matt Tylutki (trumpet), Joseph Gerber (oboe), and Jessica Pedersen (flute).

The Minnesota Band Directors Association recently announced their selections for their All-State 9-10 Honor Band taking place in April in Chanhassen. Two Austin students were selected for this honor following a rigorous audition process this past fall. Only 80 students from the entire state qualified for this elite ensemble, including Jacob Burkhart (trumpet) and Brad Gerlach (bari sax).
