Ruben M. ‘Rudy’ Jansen, 85, of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Sacred Heart Care Center.

Ruben was born May 19, 1927, in Rake, Iowa, to Albert and Mary (Hofdman) Jansen. On Feb. 21, 1948, Rudy married Betty Hanson in Lyle, Minn. He was employed by Ankeny’s Dairy, retiring in 1989. A member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Rudy enjoyed spending time at their cabin by Wabasha, Minn., where he loved to fish. Once he quit smoking, he took up crocheting. Rudy enjoyed watching the eagles along the Mississippi River, traveling across the United States and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children: Sharon (Gary) Kautz of Charlotte, N.C., Larry (Kathy) Jansen of Eagan, Minn., Barbara (Bill) Kilgore of Alexandria, Minn., Ronald Jansen of Waseca, Minn.; six grandchildren, Jeff, Chad, David, Mark, Amy and Jacob; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Brooklyn, Alexis and Jackson; his sister, Arlene Wills of Montevideo, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Jansen; his wife, Betty, in 2006 and three brothers: Johnnie, Arlow and Marlow.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Karen Behling officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
