Anderson scores 29 as Hayfield boys advance to semifinals

HAYFIELD — Trevor Anderson poured in a career- high 29 points as the Hayfield boys basketball team opened the Section 2AA South tournament with a 70-57 win over No. 6 Medford (11-13 overall) in Hayfield Monday.

Anderson, a senior guard, hit 7-of-11 from the 3-point line for the Vikings (19-7 overall).

Hayfield led by just three at the half, but it opened the second frame on a 10-0 run.

Hayfield will now play No. 2 Southland (20-7 overall) in the Section 2AA South semifinals in Mankato East High School Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Rebels beat Hayfield 65-58 in Adams Feb. 21.
