Update: Firefighters contain Friday’s fire to living room

Austin firefighters responded to a house fire Friday night at 508 Fourth Avenue NW.

A passerby reported the fire at about 10:13 p.m., according to police reports, and firefighters arrived at about 10:15 p.m. The family was not at home.

The fire was contained to a living room on the main floor of the two-story house, but there was smoke damage throughout, according to the fire department.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire; however, candles were left burning and a space heater was on, according to the Austin Police Departments reports.

    The dispatched time for Austin Fire Department was 10:13 pm and the staffed fire truck arrived at 10:15. Yes 2 minutes for the first truck. The fire trucks brought by paged in people started to arrive approximately 10 minutes after first truck.

      Thank god since its only 6 blocks away from the station with a full time staff! Funny how city, state, and federal works will pat them selfs on the back for doing there job..

        I think if you look at the time in the article it make it seem like the fire dept took 15 minutes to get there. They actually only took 2 minutes once they were told. They aren’t looking for a pat on the back just a fair report. Quick response = fire containment.
