Mabel Marian Groth, 78, of Austin, Minn., formerly of Echo, Minn., passed away Jan. 31, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic in Austin.

Mabel Marian Groth was born on March 15, 1934, to the late Carl F. and the late Rosa Bartz Groth in Courtland, Minn. She was brought into God’s family through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism as an infant in Peace Lutheran Church, Courtland. She attended both public and private schools and was a graduate of St. John Lutheran School, Wood Lake, Minn. She made her Confirmation and First Communion at St. John Lutheran Church, Wood Lake, Minn. She was a resident at the Breckingridge Group Home here in Austin, Minnesota, for many years.

She was called to her eternal home on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 16 days.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Groth (Daniel) Luoma of St. Paul, Minn.; three brothers, the Rev. emeritus Marlin C. (the late Barbara Zilke) Groth of Parma, Ohio, William (Loretta Williams) Groth of McLoud, Oklahoma, and Carl Groth Jr., of McLoud. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, the late Luella Groth (the late Harold) Cady and the late Alice Groth; by a brother, the late Ernie E. (Judy Mears Groth of Austin, Ark., survives) Groth. as well as many other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand- nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors.

We pray all who knew and loved her will receive comfort from Christ’s promise in Saint John’s Gospel to all who believe: “I am the Resurrection and the Life; because I live, you shall live also!” (St. John 11:25)

A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the Senior Citizens Center in Austin. The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso are handling the arrangements for the family.
