Hormel generator catches fire

Published 12:11pm Friday, February 1, 2013

Austin firefighters subdued flames inside a generator unit at the Hormel Foods Corp. plant Thursday morning.

The fire department responded to a fire at a stand-alone, outside generator at about 10:45 a.m., confining and extinguishing the flames by noon.

A Hormel spokesperson said there were no injuries related to the fire and no impact on the plant’s operations.

Firefighters also put out flames in the facility’s generator in August, after a mechanical failure within the generator. No one was injured in that fire either.
