Packer gymnasts have monster day at section meet, heading to state

The Austin Packers are heading back to the Minnesota State Gymnastics meet after a dominating day at the Section 1A Meet in Byron.

The Packers won the section with a score of 148.375, breaking the school record for the third time this year. There score was just under 13 points better than La Crescent’s second-place finish of 135.850.

Individually, Sela Fadness won the All Around with a 38.550 and will compete in the individual portion of the state meet with teammates Abby Bickler and Maddie Mullenbach, who tied for second with a 36.925.

It’s the first time in school history Austin has sent three girls to the all around.

Carolyn Hackel will also be competing in the individual state meet in the floor with a score of 9.075 9.2 respectively.

Abby Snater goes on in the beam with a 9.1.

“Right now it feels like we’re doing the right thing, and they’re cleaning up in everything,” said head coach Mark Raymond. “I’m really happy with where we are. I couldn’t ask for much more.”

The state meet will be held on Friday and Saturday in the Sports Pavilion at the University of Minnesota.
