An Austin man is in the Mower County jail after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at a woman’s face and said he was going to kill her.

Police arrested the 58-year-old man in Mapleview Sunday night after the victim called police. The victim, who reportedly knows the suspect, said she had not seen the man in several days. However, she awoke Sunday at her home in Austin to the man pointing a shotgun at her face, saying he was going to kill her. The report adds the victim pushed the barrel of the gun away; however, the suspect again pointed it at her.

The reported assailant left the house in a red car after the woman managed to call police at about 1:30 p.m. According to the police report, the man was arrested in Mapleview without further incident. Police say they found a .410 shotgun under a wheelbarrow in the yard.
