One of the biggest attractions in Austin is coming back to the Paramount Theatre this December.

The ever-popular Michael Veldman and Friends will return to the Paramount stage for two weekends in December as part of a 10th anniversary special.

The group, consisting of Veldman, Kaye Perry, Erin Schumacher and Brian Bawek, started entertaining the town with an annual holiday show in 2001. The group took a hiatus from the show in 2007, and decided to shut it down in 2011 as some members didn’t know whether they would be in Austin for the holiday season.

Yet Veldman and Friends haven’t done an official 10th Anniversary show, and the Paramount has been in talks with Veldman to come back onstage for some time, according to Jennie Knoebel, Paramount executive director.

“It has been a tradition for a while,” she said. “A lot of people know the Paramount through the Michael Veldman show.”

Veldman and Friends will play on Dec. 13, 14, 20 and 21, with tickets going on sale at 9 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Paramount. Special opportunities to purchase presale tickets will be announced in the summer, according to Knoebel.

“I can’t tell you how often I get questions about when the show will come back,” she said. “It’s just really exciting, and we’re really happy to invite them back.”
