A woman behind an emergency response that landed a St. Ansgar woman in jail has changed her plea to guilty in Mower County Court.

Amanda Lynn Kruse, 31, pleaded guilty Friday to fifth-degree drug possession, a felony, and DWI, a gross misdemeanor.

Mower County deputies and EMTs went to County Road 19 and 130th Street in Nevada Township at about 4:40 a.m. Aug. 4 after Kruse called and reported a passenger in her vehicle overdosed on methamphetamine. When police arrived, the passenger was awake but had a flushed face and was breathing heavily.

The overdose victim was taken to the Austin hospital; however, Kruse was questioned and appeared nervous, acted rapidly and wouldn’t maintain eye contact with officers. According to the complaint, Kruse admitted the meth was hers and that she used some at 5 p.m. the previous night. An officer found a baggie with meth on the ground by the vehicle, the report adds.

Kruse’s sentencing is March 21.
