Robert ‘Bob’ A. Vietor, 86, of Austin, Minn., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Bob was born April 28, 1926, in Montevideo, Minn., to Aleidus and Genevieve (Lutz) Vietor. After graduating from Monroe High School in St. Paul, Minn., in 1943, Bob served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He returned to Albert Lea where family was living, before moving to Austin in 1953. In April 1956, Bob married Dolores Watkins in Rochester. He and Dolores enjoyed spending winters in Florida and summers at their lake home on Lake Jefferson. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping. Dolores passed away in 1992.

Over the course of his career, Bob ran the family trucking company, worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for nine years, and then worked as a car salesman at Usem in Austin for 25 years before retiring in 1988. He held a number of state and local offices in the Loyal Order of Moose since 1952, including deputy state director.

Survivors include his siblings, David (Marcie) Vietor of Hamilton, Ohio; Marian (Jesse) Greer of San Antonio, Texas; Irene Santiago of Concord, Calif.; and Joyce Jepson of Arlington, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents Aleidus and Genevieve Vietor, his wife Dolores, one brother and one sister.

The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate efforts of doctors Ratalle, Mullach, and Brown in Bob’s last hours.
