ADAMS — The Southland boys basketball team played about as good as it could when it knocked off a physical Caledonia team (7-2 overall, 5-2 Three Rivers) 78-62 in Adams Tuesday.

Southland senior Nick Schmitz scored 21 of his 23 points in the first half as he got the Rebel offense going early on. Southland (9-3 overall, 6-1 Three Rivers) hit seven three-pointers in the win.

“We knew about their size and the kids came out and executed,” Southland head coach Jon Thalberg said. “They made the right passes and we hit open shots.”
