ADAMS — Southland sophomore McKenzie Kirtz has slowly been recovering from an injury she suffered during cross country season while playing for the Rebel girls basketball team this winter.

On Friday, she looked about as healthy as she had all year when she poured in a career-high 21 points in a 66-47 Southland win over Rushford-Peterson (5-6 overall, 3-6 Three Rivers) in Adams.

“She’s still a little sore, but she’s playing through it,” Southland head coach Bob Sheehan said of Kirtz.
