June Ardyth Philp, 92, our beloved mother, passed away on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013.

June was born in Clarion, Iowa, to Benjamin and Doris (Curley) Davis on Oct. 23, 1920. She married Bernard Philp and they raised their two daughters in Austin, Minn. Bernard and June moved to Tucson, Ariz., in August 1983. June was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, who was killed by a drunk driver on Dec. 13, 1983; her parents; and sister, Jeanette Gilbert.

June is survived by her two daughters, Ardyth (Richard) Arnston of Tucson and Muriel (John) Davis of Tucson; three sisters, Audrey Rolfson, Austin, Beverly Mees, Elkton, Minn., and Maxine Thompson, Mankato, Minn.; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, where she was active in card recycling, quilting and United Methodist Women. At the start of World War II, she went to Rockford, Ill., to work at the National Lock Defense Plant making aircraft bolts. For 25-plus years she was a self-employed beautician in Grand Meadow, Minn., and her home shop in Austin. She enjoyed baking, ballroom dancing, fishing, sewing and traveling.

There will be a funeral service at Adair Funeral Homes, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N Northern Ave., Tucson on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. with public visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Tucson. Arrangements entrusted to Adair Funeral Homes, adairfuneralhomes.com.
