FARIBAULT — Carley Grunewald scored a career-high five goals and the Packer girls hockey team snapped a five-game losing streak when it beat Faribault (5-12 overall, 2-10 Big Nine) 7-4 on the road Thursday.

“We changed our system this game and it worked out pretty good,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said. “Everybody played good for us tonight.”

The Falcons scored three goals in the first period to take a 3-2 lead, but Austin (3-13 overall, 2-7 Big Nine) bounced back in the second when Grunewald tied the game with an early goal and seventh grader Myia Hoium scored two goals in a nine-minute stretch to give Austin the lead for good.
