Three staff members of The Cedars of Austin recently earned certification in dementia care.

Director of healthcare Deb Brehmer, memory care nurse Diane Maxwell, and director of recreation/wellness and memory care consultant Cathy Ehley earned their certificate through a first-of-its-kind certification program collaboratively developed by the Alzheimer’s Association and Aging Services of Minnesota.

This training and educational program is designed to enhance knowledge and develop skills of direct care providers to work with older adults experiencing cognitive decline, dementia and Alzheimer’s.

The certification program spanned six months and included a combination of online training and hands-on workshops led by some of the leading experts in dementia in the country.
