The Austin Bruins’ John Simonson gains control of the puck after a faceoff with Alexandria’s Seth Ronsberg in the third period of last year’s Paint the Rink Pink at Riverside Arena.

The Austin Bruins are hoping their third year of Paint the Rink Pink night is at least as big as the first two.

This year, the Bruins will be donning new pink jerseys when they host the Brookings Bobcats at 7:05 p.m. Feb. 2 at Riverside Arena. As usual, the player’s jerseys will be auctioned off after the game.

“It’ll be similar to last year and we’re hoping to raise even more than we did last year,” Bruins owner Craig Patrick said.

The Bruins have raised approximately $60,000 for The Hormel Institute in two years.

Patrick has been stunned by the amount donated.

“I don’t have words for the level of gratitude for the people who have helped out and showed their generosity,” Patrick said. “It’s incredible. I’m just amazed at how well it’s gone.”

Fans will also get a chance to see some great hockey as the Bruins (25-5-5 overall) are currently in first place in the NAHL’s Central Division by 15 points and hold the second best record in the entire NAHL.
