The Austin girls hockey team started strong, but it faded out in a 10-4 loss to Rochester Century (8-6-1 overall, 7-3-1 Big Nine) in Riverside Arena Saturday.

The Packers (3-14 overall, 2-8 Big Nine) led 4-2 after the first period, but they couldn’t score again as the Panthers scored eight goals over the last two periods.

“We were a few kids short tonight and it really showed,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said.

Austin senior Carley Grunewald scored twice and she now has 109 career goals as she remains in the top-10 in scoring in the state. Chloe Summerfield had a goal and an assist, Madison Overby scored a goal and Lea Semones and Myia Hoium each had one assist.
