Phyllis E. Johnson, 95, of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.
Phyllis Ellen Johnson was born in Rose Creek, Minn., on Oct. 17, 1917. She was the daughter of Edwin O. and Frank Ellen (Lynch) Johnson. She graduated from Rose Creek High School and later Winona State University.
Phyllis worked with her father at the Rose Creek State Bank. After his death, she attended Mankato Business School. Upon completion of her courses, she worked as a teller at the Austin State Bank. In 1953, Phyllis completed her bachelor of science degree from Winona State University. She taught in Kasson and Austin. Phyllis was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the Rose Creek Literacy Club, Beta, Austin Retired Teachers and the Sons of Norway.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Paul, sister Dorothy and nephew Roger Paul Johnson. Phyllis is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert Livingston, Lakewood, Calif.; niece, Mary E. Olsen and her husband Kirk, Austin; and her great-nieces and -nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday for one hour before the service.
