FMCS asks customers to limit energy from 5 to 8
Published 2:58pm Monday, January 21, 2013Freeborn/Mower Cooperative Services has asked its customers to put off unnecessary electricity usage between 5 and 8 p.m. until after 8 p.m.
Director of Energy Services Mike Murtaugh said limiting the among of usage during a peak time can help the power company avoid exceeding its load limit. While service will not likely be interrupted if it does go over, the company would need to purchase its power from elsewhere, which could be very expensive.
“If we can avoid doing that, it’s good for everybody,” Murtaugh said. Because temperatures will remain low through Tuesday, the chances of a similar advisory being issued then is likely, he added.
“It’s a very good chance for tomorrow,” he said.
