Thompson nets hat trick in OT beat Mayo

ROCHESTER — Austin senior Kennedy Thompson finished with a hat trick, as she scored the game-tying and game-winning goal in a 6-5 overtime win over Rochester Mayo (6-14 overall, 6-8 Big Nine) on the road Thursday.

Thompson scored with 3:24 left in the game to force overtime and she won the game for the Packers (6-15 overall, 5-9 Big Nine) 25 seconds into overtime with a goal.

“Kennedy’s out of her slump now and what a time for her to do it,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said. “It was a back and forth game and we’re peaking at the right time now.”

Allison Hoban had 26 saves for Austin, which has now won four of six.
