ROCHESTER – The Austin wrestling team fell to Rochester Mayo 51-18 on the road Thursday.
“Our kids wrestled very well at times in this dual meet,” Austin head coach Bill Kinney said. “We lost a couple of matches that should have gone our way. Still, at this point in the season, we aren’t going to get too worked up about an individual match loss.”
Carter Oldenkamp picked up his first varsity win for the Packers (3-4 overall, 1-2 Big Nine) as he picked u a pin at 113.
“In his first varsity match he showed no signs of being nervous,” Kinney said. “He was the aggressor from the outset, getting two takedowns in the first period and putting the match away with a fall early in the second period.”
