MINNEHAHA — The Austin boys hockey team had to settle for a 1-1 tie against Prairie Centre (1-7-1 overall) in the Minnehaha Academy Tournament Friday.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Packers (2-5-1 overall) tied the game up in the third period when Marcus Stoulil slapped in a shot on an assist from Ethan Larson.

“We got off to a really bad start, but we played better in the second and third periods,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said.

Austin sophomore Gus Kirsch had 37 saves in net in his first career varsity action and the Packers finished with 30 shots on goal.

While the game will officially count as a tie, the Packers ended up losing a shootout to Prairie Centre, which put them in fourth place in the tournament.
