Packer boys hockey team bounces backPublished 10:30pm Tuesday, December 4, 2012
WASECA — The Austin boys hockey team didn’t allow as many shots as they did goals in their season opener as they beat Waseca (1-1 overall) 7-1 in their second game of the season on the road Tuesday.
Waseca opened its season with a 4-3 win over Dodge County, who beat Austin 9-7, but the Packers (1-1 overall) held the Bluejays to just six shots on goal Tuesday.
“We played much better on defense,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said. “We needed to tighten up some areas in our game.”
Austin, which belted out 52 shots on goal against Waseca, was led by Marcus Stoulil, who had two goals and an assist, and Tony Baudler and Ethan Larson each added two goals.
Sophomore Dan Larson scored his first career varsity goal for the Packers, while Cole Nicole had two assists and Connor Peterson, Trevor Stevens, Pat Wagner and Nick Castellano each had one assist.
