A few months back, Austin residents buckled up and took a new set of wheels for a spin. Now a local school is about to see the dividends.

Members of the Pacelli Booster Club received a check for more than $5,000 from the Lincoln Corp. Thursday night at the Holiday Ford Dealership. The donation followed a test drive fundraising event in August.

“For every car that was test driven that day, Lincoln donated $20 to Pacelli’s booster club,” said the booster club’s Jerry Kraemer. “It’s going to be a great asset to our giving ability.”

The money will help the booster club support school activities at Pacelli.

“We generally fund anything athletic or extra-curricular activities,” Kraemer said.

About 250 people participated in the Aug. 25 event.

“It gave people the opportunity to have a little fun, test drive a car they normally wouldn’t, spend time with friends and family and earn some money for their school,” said Nathan Toland, the Holiday Ford dealership’s owner, at the time of the event.
