LYLE — The Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team couldn’t make up for the fact that it had two starters out of the lineup when it lost 70-35 at home to Medford (3-2 overall) Tuesday.

The Athletics (1-2 overall) played the game without Skylar Meyer and Jordan Hart and they were led by freshman Braden Kocer, who scored 14 points.

“I was hoping for some of our older guys to step up, but we had a freshman who showed he could play,” LP head coach Casey Meyer said.

Medford 46 24 — 70

LP 14 21 — 35

LP scoring: Braden Kocer, 14; David Diang, 11; Matt Kasel, 3; Stephen Juenger, 3; John Ethen, 2; free throws: 68 percent (13-for-19)
