TARTAN — The Hayfield boys basketball team showed they can play with the state’s best when they beat Spring Lake Park (5-3 overall), which is ranked No. 8 in Class ‘AAA,’ 70-59 in the Tartan Invite Thursday.

The Vikings (6-1 overall) opened the game on an 18-2 run and they closed it on a 10-3 run.

“It’s as big a win as we’ve had, as far as who we’re playing,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “Last year they ran us off the floor.”
