The Austin Post-Bulletin has announced it will stop publishing its newspaper by the end of the month.

Rochester Post-Bulletin publisher Randy Chapman said Friday they will publish the last Austin edition on Dec. 29. The Austin Post-Bulletin had been here for 13 years.

Chapman said they made the move to reduce costs. He said the Rochester edition will have Austin news, and Austin-edition subscribers will get the Rochester paper until their current subscription expires.

The Austin Post-Bulletin had two reporters, a sports editor, photographer, and an advertising representative. It is unclear which staff members will remain with the Rochester Post-Bulletin.

The Austin Post-Bulletin is located at 201 South Main St. and is not affiliated with the Austin Daily Herald. The Herald, at 310 Second St. NE, has published in Austin since 1891 and will continue to serve Austin and Mower County six days per week as it has for more than 120 years.
