Brad Mariska directs the Austin High School band during a rehearsel. The band will present its annual holiday program on Monday.

Austin High School’s Music Department will present its annual Holiday Concert Monday at 7 p.m. Band, orchestra and choir students will take to the stage in an evening of holiday music both traditional and contemporary.

The concert will feature many familiar pieces, including carols like “The First Noel” and “Good King Wenceslas,” and a longstanding traditional finale with the singing of “The Hallelujah Chorus” and “Silent Night.”

The ensembles will also add a splash of contemporary fun, with the Austinaires performing a jazzy arrangement of “Hot Chocolate” from The Polar Express and the Jazz Band getting into the swing of things with “Frosty the Snowman.” Orchestra students will collaborate with electric guitar and drums to perform a version of “Carol of the Bells” made famous by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
