Quality Pork Processors, Inc., hit a charitable milestone this year.astronomy
QPP workers gave almost $138,000 to the United Way of Mower County this year as part of the United Way’s annual fundraising campaign. This marks the 22nd year the company has given to the cause, and means QPP has given more than $2 million during that time.
“The support of Quality Pork Processors to the Mower County community is significant and has provided countless individuals with the tools and services they’ve needed to change their lives for the better,” said Mandi Lighthizer-Schmidt, executive director for the United Way.
This year, 1,098 QPP workers donated, down from the 1,133 workers who donated about $163,000 last year.
QPP Controller David Drommerhausen said the milestone was important, as workers know the money they donate goes to a local cause and has a clear effect on the community.
“Donations never leave,” he said. “It comes from here. It’s pledged here, and it stays in the county.”
