It’s official; the recount in Mapleview’s mayoral election revealed no change.

Once again, election officials counted 51 votes for Mayor Arnie Johnson and 47 votes for challenger Larry Naatz during their recount at the Mower County Government Center at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

While nothing changed for Naatz, he was satisfied with the recount.

“That’s what recounts are for,” he said.

Because there were fewer than 400 voters in Mapleview, Naatz did not have to pay for a recount.

Though results in Brownsdale’s mayoral race warranted a recount — a 130-129 vote in favor of David Pike over challenger Jeff Foster — Foster did not want taxpayers to pay for a recount, so none was performed.
