Two suspects are in custody, and one person is in the hospital after an alleged shooting happened northeast of Austin on Thursday afternoon.

Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said officers arrested the first suspect early in the afternoon and the second one at about 3 p.m.

Amazi added the victim is in critical condition at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. As a precaution, authorities locked down the hospital while they searched for the suspect. The lockdown lasted about 35 minutes, according to a statement from the hospital. As of 4 p.m., authorities did not have a weapon.

Amazi said the suspect was shot one time; however, she did not report where the victim was shot or the names of the suspects.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Department may provide further details or a full report on Friday morning.
