The AHS junior won the contest with her card “Joy to the World,” which she created using ink pens, colored pencils and paint.

At AHS, Shin participates in cross country, orchestra, choir, national honor society and student council. In her free time, she enjoys photography and pastel drawing and hopes to continue expressing creativity with different art forms.

Shin is the daughter of Kay and Joong-Han Shin. Joong-Han is a senior scientist in the microbiology lab at Hormel’s Research and Development.

Hormel CEO and President Jeff Ettinger presented the award to Shin.

The runners-up were Georgina Hudja, an 11th-grader at Lawrence High School in Atlantic Beach, N.Y., and Natalie Sayles, a 10th-grader at AHS. Sayles is the daughter of Chad and Laura Sayles. Chad works as the manager of mechanical and electrical engineering at the Hormel corporate office.
