Doloris “Dee” Wire, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Doloris Ruth “Dee” Wire will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Paul Woolverton will officiate. Interment will be in the Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Myrtle. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Dee died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Doloris Ruth Wire was born on Dec. 2, 1918, in Athens, Wis., the daughter of Eugene and Mert (Buley) Westfall. She moved to the Gordonsville area as a child and attended school in Glenville. Dee graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1936. During World War II Dee worked in Des Moines for an ordinance factory helping the war effort. On Sept. 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to Leland Wire in Albert Lea. Dee was an active member of the United Methodist Church and a circle member. She belonged to the Albert Lea Senior Citizens. Dee enjoyed sports of all kinds especially golf and bowling. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Other interests she had included bird watching and playing bridge. Blessed be her memory.

Survivors include her son Tony and his wife, Paula Wire, of Glenville; grandchildren: Keiffer Wire, Kallee Wire and Cari Westphal; a great-granddaughter; and nephew Craig Larson.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leland; an infant daughter; her brother Archie Westfall; and her sister Elaine Larson.

Dee’s family would like to thank the staff of St. John’s Lutheran Home for the excellent care she recieved there.
