Agnes A. Mueller

Agnes “Aggie” Wessler was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Marion, N.D. to the Rev. Frederick and Irene (Gessner) Wessler. Most of Agnes’ early life was spent in Milbank, S.D., where her father served as pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 36 years. Agnes was the third of seven children. She outlived two older sisters and three younger brothers.

Agnes attended public grade school and high school in Milbank before enrolling in the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Watertown, S.D. Upon graduation, she worked as a registered nurse at hospitals in Ortonville and Waseca, Minn. It was in Waseca that she met Walter R. Mueller, the new pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Danville Township. Walter and Agnes were married on April 29, 1942, in Milbank, S.D. The couple had three children, and celebrated 55 years together until Walter died in 1997.

After their children were grown, she and Walter moved to Austin, Minn., where Walter served Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham Township. Agnes returned to her love of nursing by working as a medication registered nurse in several area nursing homes.

Survivors include her children John (Amalia) Mueller of Waikoloa, Hawaii, James (Carolyn) Mueller of Concord, Calif., and Jean Mueller of Austin; grandchildren Michelle, Robyn and Taya; great-grandchild Kylie; and sister Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Iverson. She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Frederick and Irene Wessler, and her husband the Rev. Walter Mueller. She will be greatly missed by all in her family.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham, Minn., with the Rev. Jeffrey Kuddes officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waltham. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
