A local woman is OK after her car erupted in flames Monday night.

The Austin Fire Department went to the intersection of First Drive and Eighth Place NW after 5:30 p.m. where the 40-year-old victim’s car was already on fire. While firefighters extinguished the blaze, the car, a 2002 Buick LeSabre, is considered a total loss.

The woman told firefighters she had been having engine troubles with the vehicle for some time. The car reportedly started on fire shortly after the woman started it on Monday night. When she turned the key, she heard a loud noise, and smoke started pouring out from under the hood before the entire car caught on fire.
