Woman says boyfriend strangled, punched her in nosePublished 1:10pm Friday, October 26, 2012
An Iowa man is in Mower County Court after he allegedly strangled his girlfriend twice and broke her nose after punching her in the face.
James David Broszeit, 31, of Postville, Iowa, pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony charges for third-degree assault with substantial bodily harm and domestic assault by strangulation.
According to the court complaint, Broszeit and the woman were arguing about “drinking and parenting issues” while at Deer Creek Speedway near Racine on Sept. 22. Broszeit strangled the victim twice in her car, the woman says, and then punched her in the face. The complaint adds the two drove home together; however, the victim asked to go to the hospital. Broszeit reportedly dropped the victim off at the hospital but did not stay with her.
A local deputy learned about the case after a Winneshiek County deputy forwarded the information. A warrant was issued, and Broszeit was arrested on Oct. 15.
Broszeit’s next court appearance is set for Feb. 22.
