Violet Mae Krohn, 74, Adams

Violet Mae Krohn, 74, of Adams, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at the Adams Healthcare Center where she was a resident.

Violet was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Joliet, Ill., to Clarence and Dorothy (McNiff) Klotz. She was baptized in a non-denominational church in Joliet and confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Violet completed school in Joliet through the ninth grade. She married Charles Edward Krohn on June 25, 1955. They made their home in Joliet. Violet and Charles had no children and eventually divorced. Violet worked at the glass and bottle factory in Rockdale, Illinois and as a housecleaner. Violet liked to travel and spent time in Hawaii, California, and Virginia. She came to Austin and was at the nursing home until it closed and then came to the Adams Healthcare Center. She joined Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams in 2004. In addition to traveling, Violet enjoyed reading, drawing, and cooking.

She is preceded in death by her former husband, Charles.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Adams Healthcare Center with Rev. Susan Li officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the care center on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In honor of Violet’s love of reading, book donations are requested to the Adams Healthcare Center.
