Chamber to host annual meeting

With the fall season comes the annual Austin Chamber of Commerce Fall Meeting, which will take place Wednesday.

The Chamber Board of Directors will honor Charlie Fawver as the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Fawver opened his real estate agency in Austin in 1969, and is past president of the Board of Realtors. He is also a charter member of the Chamber’s 100 Club.

In addition, the board will review potential nominees. These nominees include:

—Barry Irish, president of Sterling State Bank. Barry is current president of the Chamber, and is up for his second term on the Chamber Board.

—Mel Gilbertson, Senior Vice President of Operations at Quality Pork Processors, Inc., is a member of the Chamber Executive Committee and is seeking his second term on the Chamber Board.

—Dave Churchill, publisher of the Austin Daily Herald, is seeking his first term on the Board.

—Marlene Blaser, owner of Quiznos Sub, is seeking her second term on the Board. She is also a member of the Chamber Ambassadors.

—Kim Hillberg, is an auditor with CliftonLarsonAllen. She is a member of the Chamber Executive Committee and is seeking her second term on the board.

—Sam Ewing, Astrup Drug, is also a current member of the Executive Committee and is seeking his second term.

—Justin Bickler, owner of Simplified Technology Solutions, is seeking his first term on the board. Justin is also a Chamber Ambassador.

The meeting takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Austin Country Club. All members and their employees are welcome. To register, call 507-437-4561.
