Recommending Leathers for board
Published 10:00am Wednesday, October 10, 2012There is a memorable saying that receives attention from time to time. Maybe this is the time, with the upcoming election of school board members in the city of Austin.
The saying, by educator W.S. Ross: “For the hand that rocks the cradle, is the hand that rules the world.”
In this very stable, informed, and dedicated school board, guidance is being given to a primary aspect of the present and future of several thousand students.
We affirm the necessity of lovingly, with wisdom, and parental commitments, the continued rocking of cradles. And beyond the age of newborns, there will be those giving assurance, that the curriculum, financial support, guidelines in conduct, adequate property and buildings, and individual relationships will be sought.
The environment for learning, civility, and expected “outcomes,” is greatly increased by the best possible persons who wish to be a part of a school board.
Don Leathers, who for years has lived in Austin and raised a family, is a person we believe, would be a fantastic addition to help guide the educational dreams of our area. Now, as a retired teacher, Don offers an array of splendid gifts to the children and families of Austin. His continued involvement, which has been for dozens of years with youth programs in Austin, adds to reasons to endorse this dedicated volunteer.
Please consider Don Leathers as a leader who will, with sincere availability, honor your vote.
