A Blooming Prairie couple is missing a sizable amount of jewelry after someone burglarized their home recently.Harbor
Mower County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from a home at 320th Street, southeast of Blooming Prairie a little after 5 p.m. Tuesday. The residents told police they came home from a trip out of town to find the door to their attached garage had been kicked open and someone had burglarized their home, according to Chief Deputy Mark May.
The victims told police someone took several pieces of jewelry from one of the bedrooms inside the home. According to May, that jewelry included several gold necklaces, gold rings with diamonds, different strings of cultured pearls, an opal necklace set — including a necklace, bracelet, ring and earrings — a men’s class ring from 1974, an Austin High School men’s class ring from 1947, several men’s wedding rings in size 9 and 10, and several gold watches in men’s and women’s sizes. Deputies have yet to receive an estimate on all of the jewelry stolen, but the victims identified one diamond bracelet as worth $1,500 when they bought it in 1995, May said.
In addition, a nice-looking older jewelry box was stolen, though deputies do not know whether the missing jewelry was inside the box. A container with $40 worth of change was also taken.
