Paramount is affordable fun

Each year the Austin Area Commission for the Arts provides high quality arts, cultural, and entertainment events for our community to enjoy.

In fact, in the last year alone we offered 81 events that were enjoyed by 15,392 people. These events provide a chance for our community to see one another and share in an experience that only happens once.

We are also committed to providing the Paramount Theatre at a low cost for area nonprofits to use the theatre for their events and fundraising activities.

Unfortunately, each year ticket sales only cover about 40 percent of our overall budget. This year the funding gap between our expenses and earned revenue is about $100,000.

Through the support of several local businesses, we have raised approximately $25,000 to cover these costs. We have also raised $4,000 from grant support.

As always, we are also busy putting on events, including our annual talent show, Austin’s Got Talent, happening this Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.

Who knows which talented, community members will be discovered at the 2012 Austin’s Got Talent Show? If you are interested in competing, we are still accepting contestants.

First, second, and third place winners will receive prizes, including a recording session and a staycation at Austin’s Holiday Inn.
