Local authorities are investigating a former Moose Lodge administrator who may have embezzled “thousands and thousands” of dollars from that club, according to the Austin Police Department.

Police began investigating the alleged embezzlement on Aug. 14. and discovered the suspect may have been paying himself a wage for volunteer duties. The investigation is ongoing and information has been forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s office to form a formal complaint. However, the suspect has not yet been arrested or charged with a crime, therefore the Herald is not publishing his name.

Moose Lodge officials could not comment on the case but did confirm that the person being investigated is no longer with the Moose Lodge.
