Athletics find balance in win over Wolverines

LYLE — Four different players had at least five kills for the Athletics as they beat Glenville-Emmons (4-8 overall, 3-4 SEC) by scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-9 in a volleyball match in Lyle Tuesday.

Eighth grader Bethany Strouf had 10 kills, nine digs and five aces for the Athletics (7-10 overall, 5-2 SEC), while freshman Sarah Holtz had 14 kills.

“We played incredible and it was a pretty good match,” LP head coach Lindsey Leif said. “It makes us stronger when we don’t have to rely on one player.”

On Monday, the Athletics lost to Randolph in Lyle by scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-20.

Sarah Holtz had nine kills and three aces, Courtney Walter had 15 set assists, Ann Rysavy had kills and six digs and Madison Truckenmiller had eight digs.
